Social responsibility in footwear UITIC congress

Best business practices and social responsibility implementation are two of the key themes that will be discussed at the 18th International Technical Footwear Congress. The congress is taking place in the Chinese cities of Guangzhou and Dongguan, November 13-16 at the Shangri-La hotel, Guangzhou.

Organised by the International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians (UITIC) and the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) the congress aims to enhance the development and technical knowledge of the footwear industry.

The 18th congress will feature 23 oral presentations from around the world including three guest speakers. A simultaneous translation will be provided and there will also be a number of visual poster presentations.

The main themes at the congress are process and product innovation, working conditions, consumers and customers, best business practices and social responsibility implementation.

Delegates attending the congress will also be taken on factory visits around Dongguan and Guangzhou on November 14. The congress will officially open on November 15 and will be followed by the official dinner.

Yves Morin, President of UITIC and the Director of French footwear and leather technical institute, CTC Groupe, will host the event.
