Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) appreciated the decision of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet to put ban on the export of live animals with effect from October 1, 2013.

Zubair Ahmed Malik President FPCCI, S M Muneer President of the India Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (IPCCI) and Gulzar Firoz Vice President of FPCCI in a statement said this ban had been longstanding demand of the Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) and FPCCI had fully supported this demand in the best interest of the country.
They said by putting this ban on the export of live animals, not only the tanneries will get better access to raw material, but it will also ease the availability of meat, milk and other by-products from livestock such as hides, bones, blood and tallow to many downstream industries.
