Tannerie Masure based in Estaimbourg has had 60 tons of bovine hides stolen which is believed to be worth around half a million euros.
The hides were stored on pallets and robbery took place during the night of Wednesday to Thursday (October 4-5) from the tannery located near the Belgian town of Tournai.
The incident occurred between 9pm and 3am say local police. The hides were intended for the manufacture of footwear leather. Several trucks were used to carry the pallets away and the theft amounted to €500,000 in stolen stock and damage caused during the robbery.
Tannerie Masure employ 120 people and export approximately 98% of its production. Customers include the brands such as Louis Vuitton and Benson. They specialise in tanning bovine vegetable leather bends for sole leather, saddlery and leather goods. In 2012, they had a turnover €25 million.comments powered by Disqus
