Rumours of major Dutch tannery bankruptcy

Unconfirmed rumours have been circulating via social media site Twitter that Hulshof Royal Dutch Tanneries have entered into a bankruptcy arrangement.

The Hulshof Royal Dutch Tanneries was founded in 1876. The company is a European producer of high quality upholstery leather, processing many thousands of hides every week. This production is sold to the different world markets of the furniture, interior design, martime, auto and aviation industries. 

Hulshof are located in Lichtenvoorde and the current Managing Director and company owner, Herman Hulshof was a previous President of the European Tanners Federation, Cotance and a European 'Tannery of the Year' award finalist in 2011.

In recent years the company have been one of the leading tanners in environmental process control and innovation, and have recently invested in a new modern office complex next to the tannery in Lichtenvoorde. ILM has contacted the company to confirm the story.
