Jamie Zitnik, President of Texpac Hide and Skin, has been elected Chairman of the U.S. Hide, Skin and Leather Association (USHSLA) at the organisation’s 35th Annual Meeting and Convention in Chicago last week. Zitnik replaces outgoing Chairman Mike Larson of Tyson Foods, in this role.
Zitnik has worked in the U.S. hides and skins industry for over 37 years. In 1992, he founded Texpac Hide & Skin located in Fort Worth, Texas, a processor of brine cured cattle hides and pig/sow skins from the Southwest region of the United States. He comes from a long line of Zitnik family members involved in the U.S. hides and skins industry.
“It is an honour and a privilege to be elected Chairman of the USHSLA,” Zitnik said. “The global leather industry is entering a new phase of challenges and opportunities, and I look forward to working with fellow Association members and industry colleagues to address those issues directly.”
Despite facing travel disruptions and inclement weather, nearly one hundred industry representatives were in attendance at the Annual Meeting and Convention, held October 2-3 in Chicago, Illinois.
The USHSLA also welcomed the Leather Industries of America (LIA) to Chicago, which co-located its Autumn Board of Directors and Annual Meeting at the event and participated in a number of joint activities. The LIA has met continuously as an organisation for 98 years. The two groups have a long history of cooperation on issues affecting the entire hide, skin and leather manufacturing sector in the United States.
