The 2014 final conference of the European Sector Skills Council for Textile, Clothing, Leather and Footwear (ESSC-TCLF) took place November 28, 2014 in Brussels. The leather industry in Europe is represented by COTANCE on the Council.
Stakeholders in the EU Textile, Clothing, Leather and Footwear sectors have gathered in Brussels to review the outcomes of another year’s coordination effort at European level to address skills development in these sectors of the European economy.
The Council’s Second Report has been presented, updating and expanding sectorial intelligence on employment, education, training and skills, alongside the 2014 recommendations including one structural recommendation defining the conditions to maximise the Council’s impact on employment and skills, and four priority actions for future activities were agreed.
Representatives from the European Commission (DG Employment and Social Affairs), the social partners, national Industry Skills Partnerships (ISPs), stakeholders from the four sectors and European press gathered at the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels, Belgium, to discuss the outcomes of the second year of operation of the Council.
The European Sector Skills Council – Textile Clothing Leather Footwear (ESSC – TCLF) is a joint initiative originated in 2011 by the EU Textile Clothing and Leather industries, namely Euratex (the European Apparel and Textile Confederation), COTANCE (the European Leather industry organisation) and IndustriALL (the European Trade Union for Textile Clothing Leather and Footwear). CEC (the European Confederation of the Footwear Industry) decided to join the initiative in 2013.
The European Sector Skills Council TCLF aims at improving the level of education, skills and employment in the Textile, Clothing, Leather and Footwear (TCLF) industries.
