During the recent edition of the Lineapelle fair in Milan on February 27, the show organisers, UNIC reached out to local school children from Italy’s tanning districts through its “Amici per la pelle” initiative.

It was the fourth edition of the “Amici per la pelle” (Leather is my friend), competition sponsored by UNIC (the Italian Tanners’ Association). It involved 1,000 students from middle schools in the tanning districts in Campania, Lombardy, Tuscany and Veneto.

Schools (53 classes from 9 educational institutions), local public administration and companies committed to communicating and spreading awareness of the resources of the tanning industry, a great socio-economic force in the regions involved.

The competition included courses on the tanning process, tours of tanneries and industrial installations and, finally, the creation of objects in leather, inspired by Pop Art Tan in its popular meaning. The articles were exhibited at Lineapelle in Hall 9.

During the morning of February 27 students and teachers attended the Auditorium at the Fiera Milano, Rho and the actor-cabaret performer Maurizio Lastrico provided entertainment.
