GSC, the Italy based chemical group, will present a new formaldehyde scavenger at the upcoming edition of ACLE in Shanghai August 31 - September 2.

Chimin H2 is an organic formaldehyde scavenger, which reduces the content of formaldehyde produced during the leather retanning process.

Unlike other existing systems based on inorganic salts, where the chemical bond is not stable and it can be reversible giving back the formaldehyde in the leather, Chimin H2 forms a stable compound with the formaldehyde, which is easily eliminated by the final wash.

Chimin H2 is non toxic and can be easily handled. 1% of Chimin H2 is enough to scavenge about 100 ppm of formaldehyde. The treatment is very simple and consists of a wash with 1% of Chimin H2 for 40 minutes, with a100% float at 30°C at the end of the retanning or fatliquoring process.
