COMESA and the Netherlands join IULTCS

IULTCS, the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies, has announced that both COMESA/LLPI and The Netherlands have joined the union as member and associate member.

Led by Prof. Mwinyikione Mwinyihija, Executive Director, the LLPI (the Leather and Leather Products Institute based in Addis Ababa) has joined IULTCS as a full member and will represent the COMESA countries, which include Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Uganda and Zambia. 

“With continued growth of leather manufacturing in central and southern Africa, it is important that the voice of these regions be heard in global technical discussions and that they make a contribution towards the technical direction taken by industry”, IULTCS said in a statement.

Representing the union on international level, Dirick von Behr from chemical manufacturer Smit & zoon will lead the participation of the Netherlands as an associate member.

The next meeting of the IULTCS Executive will be held on March 30, during the APLF in Hong Kong.
