Placed in insolvency proceedings since August 1, the German engraving specialist Dornbusch Gravuren has been acquired by the owners of Ungricht, a leading supplier of engraving roller technology.
Ungricht has acquired the operating assets of Kempen based Dornbusch Gravuren, whose insolvency proceedings were ordered by the local court in May 2016.
According to local media, the news of the bankruptcy came as a shock to the staff who said they had a good order catalogue in the first few months of 2016. However, the company is said to have suffered from significant cost pressures and increasing competition from Asia.
The production site is to remain in Kempen and the new owners say they made all the necessary arrangements to keep the current orders going and resume all business operations. “The traditional production techniques for the surface design of embossing rollers together with the highly qualified staff are the strength of the company”, says a statement.
Founded in 1900, Dornbusch Gravuren will be renamed as Dornbusch Engraving GmbH. It employs around 50 people and has been well-known internationally for its production of embossing rollers and plates for the high-end segment. Customers include car manufacturers and suppliers such as BMW, and other luxury leather goods brands.
