Clarks, the British footwear manufacturer and retailer, has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer.
Mike Shearwood has been appointed as the first permanent CEO of Clarks since Melissa Potter stepped down from the role in September 2015. He also replaces Thomas O’Neill, Executive Chairman, who has been leading the retailer in the interim.
Previously, Shearwood headed the British fashion brand, Karen Millen, where the drove the company’s international positioning and e-commerce activities back to growth.
Following a drop in turnover, Clarks announced around 170 job losses earlier this year. The company’s operational profit dropped from €142 million to €58 million (-65%), failing to meet the adjusted forecast after the September 2015 results, and despite a 2.6% increase in turnover in 2015 for the fiscal year ending January 31, 2016.
