Karachi tanneries to benefit from infrastructure developments

The tannery zone in Karachi is to benefit from the reconstruction of Road 5000 and to be included in the local Infrastructural Development Fund.

During a meeting with the newly elected Chairman of the Pakistan Tanners’ Association (PTA), Aziz Ahmed, on October 5, Ejaz Ahmed Khan, Commissioner Karachi Division, said that Karachi’s tannery zone is to be included in the Infrastructural Development Fund of Karachi.

Tanners in Karachi are to benefit from the reconstruction of Road 5000, the main artery to the tannery zone whose repair works are currently under way, as well as other infrastructural development projects such as continuous water supply. The Commissioner also ordered the authorities concerned to prepare an effective plan for cleaning the area from garbage and industrial waste.
