Stahl acquires fire retardant technology provider

The chemical manufacturer announced it has acquired a North American company, Eagle Performance Products specialising in flame retardant technologies to extend its product offer, particularly for the automotive, aeronautical and home interior sectors.

Stahl has acquired U.S based Eagle Performance Products in a move to add technology and product diversification to its portfolio of process chemicals for leather products, performance coatings and polymer dispersions. According to the chemical manufacturer, the addition of water-based flame retardants opens up opportunities for both technical textiles and leather products, while also enabling Stahl to explore new market segments including hotels and cinemas.

“We have been cooperating closely with Eagle Performance Products for many years. As the synergy advantages are numerous, we have decided the time was right to combine our forces,” said Huub van Beijeren, CEO, Stahl. “With the acquisition of Eagle Performance Products business, we will expand our product coverage, innovation power and sustainability expertise in the field of flame retardant technology. This enables us to respond even better to our clients’ needs”, he added, precising the application of the Eagle flame retardant technology will be extended to a global scale. 

Established in 1974, Eagle Performance Products is specialised in flame retardant technologies and has been developing additional specific products that meet the highest performance standards. Based in Atlanta (GA) and Chattanooga (TN), it has focused on the North American market and only randomly ventured outside the NAFTA region.
