Adient, the automotive seating business, now independent from Johnson Controls since October 31, said it plans to invest US$97.8 million in its new headquarters situated in Detroit.

Adient, which is receiving a US$2 million performance-based grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation as well as a package of city incentives, plans to spend US$50 million to renovate a 10-storey, 164,000 sq ft building located in Detroit’s financial district.

The company’s decision was partly based on the fact that it already has over 1,200 employees in Michigan.
