Specialist chemical manufacturer Stahl will be delivering a thought provoking presentation titled ‘Walking the Talk: How the leather chemicals industry is taking action on transparency’ at the upcoming Sustainability in the Leather Supply Chain Conference to be held on March 30, 2017 in Hong Kong.
Stahl’s presentation will discuss the statements of commitment to transparency and sustainability often published in the news, at industry events and in corporate reporting; the idea that transparency leads to more sustainability is a concept that is widely accepted but not as easy to prove. Stahl will explore some specific initiatives taken by leather chemicals suppliers and associations which demonstrate how transparency is being translated into action such as traceability, restricted substances, education & training, self-assessment tools, seminars and public-private partnerships. The concrete benefits of these initiatives for the leather supply chain, and plans for more, will also be discussed.
Other key topics at the conference will include some of the most forward-thinking presentations in the industry, with speakers from ZDHC, Lanxess and Applied DNA Sciences. Presentations will also be given by major brands and other stakeholders in the industry.
Jointly organised by the BLC Leather Technology Centre and APLF Ltd, sponsors of the 2017 conference include Stahl (platinum), Lanxess (Gold), Micro-Pak (Bronze). ILM is the official media sponsor.
