Gobba Leather joins the CSCB programme

The CICB, the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry, has announced a new tannery, Gobba Leather, has joined the Brazilian Leather Sustainability Certification (CSCB) programme.

Established in the Nova Esperança do Sul, part of Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Gobba Leather specialises in the production of leather for the furniture, automotive and footwear segments, mainly for export. Certified by ISO 9001 for almost 20 years, the company says the curren high demands in the market exceed ISO standards. "Therefore, our inclusion in the CSCB programme aims to meet demands, especially in the socio-environmental field”, states the company, which is already working on the 173 indicators of the programme. Criteria includes water and energy consumption, restricted substances, production performance, waste management and employee relations.

Created by the CICB in 2014, the CSCB certification ensures buyers from the footwear, leather goods, furniture and automotive industries of the origin of leather used in their products.
