Biocidal product regulations discussed at APLF conference

Hong Kong

The new EU Biocidal Products Regulation and the Federal US. regulations relating to biocide registration will presented at the ‘Sustainability in the leather supply chain’ conference to be held in Hong Kong on April 1, 2014.

Regulations in both Europe and North America require strict registration and authorisation processes to demonstrate that biocides used are both safe and effective and may require mandatory labelling under certain circumstances.

Biocides and antimicrobials play an essential role in leather manufacture and for the protection of goods during shipment and it is important that safe and approved chemicals are used.

Martin Berman, Managing Director of Micro-Pak Ltd, will provide an interesting insight into these important chemical regulations and what they mean for the leather supply chain.

Organised by BLC Leather Technology Centre and APLF, the conference is sponsored by BASF, Lanxess, Micro-Pak, National Beef, TFL, Trumpler/Trumpler Espanola, Zschimmer & Schwarz and International Leather Maker (media sponsor).
