U.S. exports of pigskins have substantially increased both in volume and value in 2017 over the previous year.
Between January and November 2017, exports of U.S. pigskins increased +18% in volume and +50% in value compared with the same period in 2016, implying a substantial increase in average unit value. The sudden growth can be traced back to the growth of trade with Thailand, which recorded over +350% increase in volume and over +800% in value, hence, maintaining its third place among the top destinations despite increasing its share from 7% in 2016 to 27% in 2017.
