Spain’s Technological Institute for Footwear and Related Industries (INESCOP) will present the ongoing advances to achieve the optimal 3D printing of a shoe during the 20th UITIC International Technical Footwear Congress taking place May 16-18 in Porto, Portugal.
INESCOP says it has adapted its CAD system for footwear design to generate valid geometrical models for 3D printing, with no need to use other complex and intermediate systems to correct the designs. Also, an eco-efficient technology will be introduced, which enables to obtain functional leathers with properties such as water-repellency, fire and stain resistances, and antimicrobial effect. This surface finishing treatment, based on the combination of laser and plasma, helps to significantly reduce the consumption of water, energy and hazardous chemicals. In addition, INESCOP will exhibit seven technical posters on various topics.
This year’s UITIC Congress will focus on “From Fashion to Factory: A New Technological Age”. The organisers expect over 400 technicians from several different countries to attend the event.
