The European Commission has launched the second phase of the WORTH project, which supports collaboration between fashion designers, traditional and digital craftsmanship, and the manufacturing industry.
The leather sector is among priority sectors in the second part, the EU WORTH project provides designers, SME manufacturers, craftspeople and technology companies with a platform to develop creative concepts and the opportunity to enter into a transnational partnership. The selected partnerships will receive financial and capacity building support to exchange knowledge and skills. The EU will provide €10,000 per project as seed money, along with individual coaching and advice on product market positioning, branding and IPR, participation in two international events, as well as cross-sectorial collaboration and product development.
Application submissions are open until October 24, 2018 and over 700 members are already registered in the WORTH platform, ready to connect and build up transnational collaborations.
After a successful first phase, 25 highly innovative design selected partnerships are in motion, covering a wide spectrum of industries across 20 European countries. During the first selection process, leather made from fish skins was a successful candidate, with WORTH now supporting Icelandic specialist tanner, Atlantic Leather company.
