The U.S. headquartered automotive seating supplier is opening a new manufacturing site in the Moroccan town of Kenitra, its first factory in the country.
With production planned to start at the end of May, Adient’s manufacturing site in Kenitra will be its first in the country, aimed at expanding its fabric business for seating and interior applications. "The automotive industry has been steadily growing in the region, and it's projected to grow even more in the near future," said Jef Vercammen, Vice President Global Fabrics, Adient. "The plant's strategic position will make it easier for us to serve our customers both in Northern Africa and Southern Europe," he added.
The plant will focus on fabric lamination for automotive seating; “a process of binding fabric layers together to create higher endurance, greater resilience, and a premium look and feel”, and will serve clients such as Renault, PSA, Opel, BMW and Nissan.
Rival Faurecia is also to open a manufacturing site in Kenitra this year for the Company’s Interiors and Clean Mobility businesses. It will be its third plant in the country. Read more here.
