Leather students visit TFL fashion and automotive centres

A group of students from the Institute for Creative Leather Technologies (ICLT) in Northampton, visited TFL’s new Global Fashion Centre Castelfranco di Sotto as well as the chemical supplier’s Automotive Centre in Montebello, also in Italy.

Organised by TFL, this is the 17th time the programme welcomes students from the ICLT in Italy. At the Global Fashion Centre in Tuscany on May 21, the students were provided with an overview of the manufacturer’s latest technologies as well as a presentation on TFL's fashion collection for Autumn/Winter 2019-20 as well as the latest Pantone technology.

In the days that followed, the students were welcomed at TFL's Automotive Centre in Montebello, where they were able to create leather articles during a hands-on workshop and learn about automotive finishing. Methods for cleaning the grain in the beamhouse and techniques to reduce blood veins were revealed, and TFL wet-end experts also shared their knowledge on waterproofing leather technologies.

Completing the programme, the students visited the wastewater plant of Acque del Chiampo in Arzignano. At tanning machinery specialists, Gemata, in nearby Trissino, another interactive workshop was held and the programme concluded with a final visit to a raw materials company in located in Padova.
