According to a report in the local Italian newspaper Il Giornale di Vicenza there looms the prospect of legal action over the transfer of the Lineapelle leather fair from Bologna to Milan prior to the next edition in September.

UNIC (Italian Tanners’ Association) President, Rino Mastrotto formally announced the relocation at the last edition of Lineapelle in Bologna earlier this month, subject to board approval.

However, a vote among the major stakeholders at the board meeting on March 25 voted by only six votes to five in favour of moving to Milan.

However, minority shareholders, Fiera di Bologna, who are opposed to the move are considering legal action as they claim that the statutes of Lineapelle demand a two-thirds majority vote for such a decision to be ratified.

The newspaper states this whole story may now turn into a legal battle and a decision must be taken quickly since the Milan (Rho) fair organisers will want to fix definite dates for the occupation of the show ground for September.

ILM has contacted UNIC for a formal comment and clarification on the situation.
