Family-run UK based shoe retailer chain, Pavers, has acquired English hand-made welted footwear brand, Herring Shoes.

Under the agreement, Pavers will continue to operate separately from Herring Shoes. The amount of the transaction has not been disclosed. Founded in 1971, Pavers, which sells several well-known footwear brands as well as under its own name, seeks to broaden its online expertise and reach international markets.

Founded in 1966 and based in Devon, Herring Shoes is specialised in high-quality English handmade welted leather footwear. Apart from its own brand of footwear, it also supplies top quality shoes from English manufacturers such as Barker, Church, Cheaney and Loake.

Earlier this year, Pavers is reported to have acquired rival footwear retailer Jones the Bootmaker in a pre-pack deal, shortly after the latter was rescued from administration by private equity firm Endless.
