Wolverine to focus on a sustainable end product at the “Tannery 2030” Shanghai event

Sylvain Bussiere, Managing Director, Wolverine Leathers, a division of Wolverine Worldwide Inc will be among the speakers at the upcoming “Tannery 2030 conference in Shanghai on August 28.

Sylvain Bussiere will present "Sustainable leather for a sustainable end consumer product”, during the half-day conference which will focus on what the leather supply chain may look like in the year 2030 and beyond.

“Sustainability is embedded in all changes and innovations taking place in the leather industry from raw material origins, process efficiency, the weight of leather in life cycle assessment of footwear. This is shaping the future tannery with water and energy conservation that will push the development and adoption of new processes via different equipment and technologies. A new direction that will decide where and when to trim the hide and skin which is not valuable or needed for the final consumer end product,” says Bussiere.

With 30 years of experience in the global leather industry, Sylvain spent 15 years in France working for the high-end tanner, Tannerie d’Annonay. This was followed with nine years managing a tannery for the ECCO group in Indonesia. For the past six years he has been managing the tannery division for Wolverine Worldwide. He has a strong technical background and for the past 15 years has been located in Asia.
