According to the show organisers, APLF and CLIA, the 17th edition of the All China Leather Exhibition in Shanghai, September 3-5, 2014 has already been 80% sold by surface area. There will be 19 national pavilions at the next edition which will take place at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Pudong.
The ACLE will take place alongside The China International Footwear Fair (CIFF) and Moda Shanghai. Last year the three-day show attracted 24,233 visitors and 1424 exhibitors.
"Expectations for the 2014 events in Shanghai are positive as there is a tight supply of raw materials due to many countries restricting exports. ACLE is the ideal platform where China's tanners and manufacturers can make fresh contacts and find new suppliers to feed their production lines", says Michael Duck, Director, APLF Ltd - co-organisers of the ACLE.
The ACLE takes place over 8 halls covering a surface area of 92,000 sq m with 55,000 sq m covered by domestic exhibitors. It is estimated that imports of supplies and products to support China's leather and leather products sectors are worth US$8.47 billion
Retail sales in China are running at a growth rate of 12.4% for the first quarter of 2014. Lower than the original forecast in January as easy credit is being restricted to prevent the economy overheating. The Li Keqiang government is now one-year old and has stated that there is "tolerence in growth targets" after starting a series of market-orientated reforms that include a crackdown on the shadow banking sector and runaway local government debt. The Chinese government 2014 GDP growth target is still 7.5% for the year.
The ACLE is co-organisers by APLF Ltd and the China Leather Industry Association.
