The Hong Kong leather trade show organiser has partnered with Manila’s premier sourcing platform, FAME, on a project aimed at inspiring buyers, manufacturers and fashion designers about the beauty and versatility of leather.

APLF is collaborating with Manila FAME to organise the second edition of Leather Reborn on October 19-21, 2019. During this year’s edition, 15 local artists were invited to experiment painting on leathers sponsored by JBS Couros, a member of the Leather Naturally initiative. Most of the works presented were related to the environment and sustainability. Visited by thousands of local manufacturers, exporters, artisans and furniture designers, Manila FAME is Philippines’ premier sourcing platform for handcrafted products such as home decor, furniture and fashion accessories.

APLF says it has partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry Philippines (DTI) and Walls Gallery to invite artists to paint at the exhibition. The purpose of the Gallery is to gather local talent artists, support them by buying their paintings and to reproduce their artworks onto fashion accessories. The sales revenue is returned to the artist supporting fund, with a percentage donated to the Erda Foundation, an education fund to support local students to receive education.

Leather Reborn is a charity project to support the local community. Ten of the artworks completed during the last edition of Manila FAME will be sold by the Walls Gallery to support its artist community. Another five, together with the art pieces created in the first edition of Leather Reborn at the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) in Shanghai, will be put up for auction during the upcoming APLF to be held March 13-15, 2019 in Hong Kong. The funds raised will also go to a charity designated by the artists.
