The French luxury conglomerate has been ranked as the second most sustainable company in the world by the Corporate Knights Global 100 Index.
Canada-based, Corporate Knights released its 15th annual list of the world's 100 most sustainable corporations during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on January 22. Ranking 47th in the list just over a year ago, Kering, which has pioneered with its Environmental, Profit & Loss accounting, now ranks as the second most sustainable company in the world, across all industries. “This reflects our dedication and perseverance to embed sustainability best practices across our business activities and it also acts as a ‘proof of concept’ that a business can achieve financial success while delivering positive social and environmental outcomes”, said Marie-Claire Daveu, Chief Sustainability Officer and Head of International Institutional Affairs, Kering.
The Global 100 Index follows a rigorous analysis of some 7,500 companies with at least US$1 billion in revenues. The world's most sustainable corporation in 2019 is Chr Hansen, a Danish bioscience company that uses "good bacteria" to provide natural means for preserving food, protecting plants and reducing overreliance on antibiotics in livestock farming. "The Global 100 companies show that doing what is good for the world can also be good for financial performance," said Toby Heaps, CEO, Corporate Knights.
