LVMH to establish training centre of excellence

Published:  04 July, 2014

Luxury Group LVMH has announced the creation of “L’Institut des Métiers d’Excellence” (IME), a program of professional training that will allow the LVMH Group to enhance skills in the fields of craftsmanship and creation of a new generation of young apprentices. Starting in September, the IME will enable accredited degrees, through paid apprenticeships within the Group brands.

“The LVMH “Institut des Métiers d’Excellence” underlines the key role of apprenticeships, supervisors and tutors in the transmission of the knowledge and development of savoir-faire. Our métiers are mastered over the long term: all employees within the Group are committed to the preservation and enrichment of its heritage, and are therefore proud to contribute to this original initiative” said Chantal Gaemperle, Group Executive Vice President, Human Resources and Synergies.

The training programs of the Institute have been developed in collaboration with outstanding educational partners. LVMH intends to sign partnerships in the fields of leather goods, visual merchandising and sales as well as in other fields such as jewellery and dressmaking.

For each training program, the students will benefit from an educational curriculum combining theoretical and practical training at a school, as well as practical experience within the workshops of the Group’s companies. Students of the Initiative will also have the opportunity to interact with master craftsmen and designers from LVMH.

A first in the luxury sector, the IME is the only training initiative which partners with leading schools in order to deliver a degree and improve the employability of young people while delivering apprenticeships in the fields of craftsmanship and creation.
