Future of tanning cluster in Fuxin discussed

The China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) is hosting a two-day seminar August 14-15 to discuss a new tanning park in Fuxin, Liaoning province. It forms part of the Chinese tanning industry’s goal of consolidating smaller production units into clusters with better environmental infrastructure.

With the recent background of realigning the industrial structure and speeding up the industrial transformation of the tanning industry in China into concentrated production sites, the CLIA is hosting a two-day seminar to discuss the development of the tanning sector, in particular in Fuxin, Liaoning province.

China's leather industry has already begun to restructure but the level of change is uneven, tannery park planning and management is also faced with many problems. Problems such as how to support the leather industrial park construction, enhance the level of park development and improve the efficiency of industry resources is an urgent issue for China's leather industry says an article on the CLIA’s official news website – chinaleather.org.

The seminar will be also discussing the national industrial policy, analysis of the developing situation in leather industry and cleaner production technology.

The seminar is co-sponsored by the CLIA, Environment and Textile Engineering Department of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the government of Fuxin, Liaoning province. Leaders from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, industrial experts and tanners are attending the meeting.
