The 20th UITIC took place May 16-18 and focussed on themes such as ‘New product, new services’, ‘Intelligent development and manufacturing’, ‘Sustainability, regulatory trends impacting on factories’ and ‘New way of training and knowledge management’. Over the three days, more than 20 local footwear companies were visited by participants of the Congress.
Yves Morin, President, UITIC (International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians) said this edition achieved a record number of delegates with a high level of panels, speeches and presentations. “The congress has fully achieved its goals of being the international ‘Think Tank’ of the footwear industry”, he added.
Yet to be decided by the UITIC Executive Committee, South Africa, Colombia and Romania have all submitted an application to host the 21st UITIC Congress.
