Taking place at the New International Expo Centre in Shanghai, August 29 – 31, the 2018 ACLE will host Designer Workshops presented by experienced tutors from the Footwearists (Netherlands) – footwear, Style ModainPelle Academy (Italy) – leather goods, and Mattori Studio (Italy) – leather garments. Free to attend, the young designers will be guided to develop their own products and share their experience with peers.
Other special areas during the fair include the Leather Trends Space, where the colours and materials trends for Spring-Summer 2019 will be illustrated using leather samples curated from ACLE exhibitors, and the Iconic Sneakers’ Display, where sneakers such as Nike’s Air Jordan, Reebok’s O’Neil, Adidas Originals and Converse’s Chuck Taylor will be displayed alongside information on the leather types, tanning process and treatments.
In Hall E1, the Leather Naturally Zone, organised by the Leather Naturally initiative, will pursue its industry campaign to inspire and inform designers and consumers about the beauty, quality and versatility of leather.
On the day before the start of the fair on August 28, ILM will also host its “Tannery 2030” half-day (afternoon) conference looking at how the tannery of the future may be like and what future changes maybe taking place in the leather supply chain.
