According to reporting from Khaleej Times and Gulf News, the UAE leather manufacturer signed a memorandum of understanding with automotive company Rox to explore automotive leather applications including finished leather, cut parts and engineered components for future mobility projects.
The agreements were announced during MIITE 2026, part of the UAE’s wider industrial localisation strategy. Al Khaznah also signed a cooperation agreement with the UAE Ministry of Culture focused on heritage-inspired leather products, artisan training and the integration of traditional leather craftsmanship into industrial production.
In comments published by multiple regional outlets, Al Khaznah Managing Director and CEO, Shamsa Muaid Alahbabi, said the agreements reflected the company’s “dual role” in advanced manufacturing and preserving Emirati leather heritage.
Separate reports from Khaleej Times and Gulf Business say Rox is developing an AI-driven manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi, with a long-term target of producing 300,000 vehicles annually by 2030.
