Open to all brands that have joined Alibaba’s existing “Good Faith Takedown” program launched in 2015, the aim of the “Intellectual Property Joint-Force System” is to provide brands with the opportunity to confirm intellectual property violations found by Alibaba. Participating brands will be assigned to a dedicated online portal with an Alibaba account manager.

The initiative follows the storm caused by some of the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC) members such Michael Kors and Gucci, which led the IACC to suspend the Chinese e-commerce giant’s membership in May 2016. Read more here.

It is reported that a few luxury brands have officially opened shops on Alibaba’s Tmall, including Burberry and Calvin Klein. As Alibaba will not take down items without the brands’ confirmation that they’re fake, it seems nearly an obligation for brands to collaborate with the e-commerce giant’s new service platform.
