Organisers UBM and SIC Group say they have decided to expand the four shows (APLF Leather, APLF-Materials+, Fashion Access and Cashmere World) in a move that aims to offer more opportunities for buyers to see a wider range of products and service. As from 2020, APLF Leather is to be relocated from Level 1 to Level 3 of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), while the other fairs that currently occupy Level 3 are to move to Level 1.

According to organisers, the total exhibition area will be enlarged by relocating the leather sector to Level 3 of the HKCEC, with the extra exhibition space expected to offer more prime stand locations to the current exhibitors at APLF Leather. “The new configuration will also offer an opportunity to re-segment and re-group product zones, therefore, facilitating the buyers’ navigation of the fair according to their sourcing purposes, in particular for sustainable materials”, says APLF adding that the space in Hall 1 “has been inadequate to meet exhibitors’ needs”. By moving Materials+, Fashion Access and Cashmere World to Level 1, the organisers also aim to fundamentally shift the fairs from a leather focus, to a fashion-oriented group of fairs “which will attract not only leather buyers but also new fashion and interior designers from the Generations Y and Z, reconnecting them all to the leather supply chain.”

The exhibiting spaces for the leather sector in Hall 1 are already sold out for the upcoming 35th edition of the trade show, taking place March 13-15.
