Apple Inc and Hermès have teamed up to create leather straps for the Apple Watch which will feature stainless steel models with Hermès’ signature strap styles, Single Tour, Double Tour and the Cuff.

A limited edition of the watches will feature Hermès’ signature on the watch face instead of Apple’s, a first for the company. They will have Hermès’ three face dials designs, Clipper, Cape Cod and Espace Hermès.

The collection will be available at select Apple and Hermes outlets from the beginning of October and also from selected shops and department stores across the U.S, Germany, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, China, France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, Singapore, Switzerland and the UK.  Prices start at US$1,100 for a single loop watch, and US$1,500 for a full leather cuff watch.

According to analysts, the collaboration has given a fashionable twist to a product that was largely seen as geeky. Apple is also said to be striving to get ahead of its competitors as the wearable market is becoming increasingly competitive with tech players such as Samsung, Motorola and Sony.
