In the first two months of fiscal 2023-24, footwear exports from Bangladesh declined by 12.73% in value to US$194.8 million.
This result was also down on the strategic target set for the period by 4.32%. Exports have continually missed targets in 2023.
Leather footwear exports alone fell by 23.52% year-on-year to US$112.1 million, missing the target by 0.66%. Meanwhile, finished leather exports fell by 12.57% to US$20.3 million, missing the target by 0.25%.
Leather good exports totalled US$62.5 million, up by 16.79% year-on-year and falling short of the strategic target by 11.33%.
Finally, other footwear exports from the country were up by 6.52% to US$79.9 million and were short of the target by 3.7%.
