According to the NCBA, the U.S. beef industry has already reduced emissions per pound of beef by 40% between 1961 and 2018, and now plans to continue this sustainability trend into a lower-carbon future.

The organisation has set a series of goals for the industry, including to demonstrate the climate neutrality of U.S. cattle production by 2040, to create and enhance opportunities that result in a quantifiable increase in producer profitability and economic sustainability by 2025, and enhance trust in cattle producers as responsible stewards of their animals’ wellbeing.
