In his presentation “Leather at Bentley: Redefining luxury for the 21st century”, Stang will explore the use of leather in the luxury automotive segment and its positioning in the future.
He will provide an insight into the history of leather at Bentley, current challenges, and a glimpse of where leather development for luxury vehicle interiors may take us in 21st century. Dr Stang will also touch upon the use of leather in the company and give an indication of where the luxury automotive market is heading from a Bentley perspective.
Dr Marc Stang started his career in 1996 as a graduate interior engineer working for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Upon completion of his Ph.D., Marc returned to the automotive industry and joined Bentley Motors Limited as a Creak and Rattle engineer in 1999, moving over to the Materials Development department in 2002 as a materials engineer. He is currently the manager of the Material Development department at Bentley where he is responsible for the development of leather, soft trim materials, and the colour development / integration of interior materials.
He has seventeen years’ experience working in the luxury automotive industry, fourteen of which have been spent in leather material development. Marc has a broad technical educational background and has gained the status of Chartered Engineer from the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in 2006.

The ILM Automotive Leather Supply Chain Europe conference takes place at the elegant 5-star, Le Meurice hotel in central Paris’s rue du Rivoli. The half-day conference takes place on Monday, October 17 (afternoon) and features leading companies and speakers representing the entire automotive leather supply chain. Presentations will be in English only.
