Two experts from global chemicals business Lanxess will explain the benefits of biocides in leather during an upcoming webinar hosted by ILM on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 2pm CET (1pm BST). The 45-minute webinar will feature a live Q&A with the presenters.
“Biocides in leather: A blessing or curse” will cover why we need biocides, their benefits, the options already available on the market and some of the regulatory difficulties. The future, sustainability and safety of biocides will also be discussed. The webinar will also feature an update on restricted substance lists (RSL, MRSL) etc. to help tanners optimise the safe use of biocides during leather manufacturing.
The speakers:
Andreas Weckmann, Technical Marketing Leather Biocides
After studying biology, Weckmann worked in a European research institute in the field of nanoparticle detection. He was then active in cancer research at the institute of biochemistry at the medical faculty of the University of Cologne.
He joined Lanxess in 2011 and was technically responsible for biocides and enzymes for the leather industry. In 2021, he became Head of Technical Marketing Leather Biocides and is now responsible for new product developments, technical customer service and supporting the strategy of the Lanxess leather biocide business.
Franziska Sophia Römhild, Global Product Manager for Biocides for the Leather Industry
Roemhild, an experienced B2B professional, has worked across multiple marketing and sales functions in large and small chemical companies. She brings a truly international profile, having lived in six countries, and speaks four languages fluently.
In her role as Global Product Manager, she defines the strategy for the leather protection business, manages and optimises the product portfolio and coordinates an interdisciplinary team that is manoeuvring the path to the “future of leather” with her. Roemhild sees the proximity to the customer and a deep understanding of the market as the key factors for success.
Following an approximately 30-minute presentation, the two presenters will join Martin Ricker, ILM Content Director, for a live Q&A. Registered attendees will also be able to ask these experts questions around the topic of biocides in leather.
