Organised by Abicalçados, the Brazilian Shoe Manufacturers Association, the mission has the support of a local matchmaking agency, which has scheduled a series of business meetings as well as a showroom at the Radisson Royal Hotel on June 6.

The business mission is part of a market penetration strategy launched in 2013. According to Abicalçados, Russia accounted for 3% of total footwear exports in 2015.

“The Russians have a very positive perception of Brazil and its footwear production. They are trying to diversify shoe imports and the Brazilian brands have much to offer”, said Ruisa Scheffe, Commercial Promotion Analyst at Abicalçados.

Footwear brands participating in the mission include Rider, Pampili, Ipanema, Grendha and Kildare.
