The number has been compiled by CICB’s Department of Intelligence, based on data released by the Department of Foreign Trade – Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC).
The preliminary numbers show an increase of 15.4% in comparison to the same period last year. For the yearly accumulative figure, the Brazilian leather sector has registered a total of US$2.24 billion in exports, which represents a growth of 23% over the same period in 2013.

Looking ahead the CICB predicts that there is a decrease in world cattle slaughter, which will lead to higher prices on the international market. As a result, there is an adjustment in business volume and
final numbers for September will be confirmed in the next few weeks. The leather industry’s contribution to overall Brazilian exports remains at 1.3%.
