Three Brazilian tanneries are participating at Futurmoda; Best Brasil, Emporio Yurgel, and Secctrade, with the support of the Brazilian Leather project, an initiative of the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), which seeks to promote Brazil’s growth in international markets.

According to Letícia Luft, Project Manager, Brazilian Leather, the Brazilian leather sector has focussed on Spain over the past few years due to the Alicante region’s connections with the fast fashion segment. However, she said that pre-established relations between Spain and Brazil mean that buyers have preferred Brazilian leathers for attributes other than fashion, such as quality and sustainability.

Around 7,000 visitors from 35 countries are expected to attend Futurmoda, which takes place at Elche Industrial Park.
