As is well reported, the world has had a severe downturn in beef production over the past twelve months, and as a result, a shortage of hides as a by-product from the beef industry. There has been one exception to the rule, namely the U.S., which has seen record slaughter volumes, primarily to meet the growing needs of Chinese and other Far East based export customers alongside domestic demand.
