“Clarks recently learned that aspects of Shearwood’s conduct, conversations and expressions fell short of the behaviours expected of all its employees on a number of occasions. In these circumstances the board has accepted Shearwood’s resignation”, said Clarks in a statement.

Shearwood joined the Company in 2016, after working for British retail chain Karen Millen.

An internal investigation is said to be underway. In the meantime, Stella David, the Company’s Senior Independent Director, has been appointed interim CEO.
