The event, organised by the Conseil National du Cuir (CNC), will take place at Palais Brogniart in Paris from 8.45-18.00 on September 13, 2021.

The first session will discuss the vegan movement and animal welfare, covering its origins, philosophy and its impact on the public opinion and consumers. The second session covers deforestation and carbon footprints, analysing the lifecycle of leather by identifying the parameters of it and whether leather is actually linked to deforestation. The third session investigates responsible production and sourcing in the sports and leisure markets, focusing on how brands and importers can implement more responsible sourcing. The fourth part examines synthetic and trendy alternatives to leather, offering a comparison of their technical performance based on the materials’ characteristics. The fifth and final session investigates transparency and consumer information, as well as how positive communication with stakeholders influences the move towards greater transparency in the leather, footwear and leather goods industries.
