Speaking to La Repubblica, Beccari said: “We have closed the six local stores, but we are under a lot of pressure from the authorities to reopen. But even if we did, we would not have the goods, because everything is blocked: we do not even know if we will reopen, let alone when.”

He also commented on the situation in Ukraine. The company reportedly has a store in Kiev with 12 employees, two of which requested to help from Dior to leave the country. Beccari said that the company did so, but the rest have remained in the city because they have family and friends who are fighting to defend the country.

“It’s hard to talk about beauty and culture when all this is happening just a stone’s throw from us. And not even in Russia the situation is simple,” he said.
