The congress is a meeting point for leather industry professionals, consultants, academic experts and students from over 25 countries and takes place November 24-27 in Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul. Brazil is hosting the conference again after more than 20 years. “Brazil was responsible for organising the event in 1993. Back then, the congress was an absolute success, contributing a positive image of our leather production chain. This time, we want to make it even better. We want to consolidate Brazil’s reputation as a leader in the segment”, says Etevaldo Zilli, Executive Director of ABQTIC (the Brazilian Association of Leather Technicians and Chemists), the organisers of the 33rd IULTCS.

“We are expecting the participation of around 800 people. We have already had more than 120 works submitted”, says Zilli. In fact, the deadline for submission of abstracts to the scientific commission has been extended to May 10.

Discount registration

Besides extending the deadline for work submission, the XXXIIIIULTCS Congress organising commission has announced the extension of anticipated registration. Those who confirm their presence before June 30 will enjoy a discounted delegate fee. “We are organising an event with lectures bringing the most current themes. Moreover, we want professionals from the most diverse countries to exchange their experiences, stimulating one another, so that the entire leather chain may grow and become even stronger”, says Zilli.

The XXXIIIIULTCS Congress takes place at Feevale University, located in a city that hosts one of the country’s most significant leather and footwear clusters, with several tanneries, chemical and components industries, as well as shoe manufacturers.
