Ecco currently has four shoemaking factories in Xiamen, which opened in 2004 and a tannery servicing the Ecco footwear plants and other customers. Ecco has 3200 employees in China that produce 3.8 million pairs of shoes per annum, said Hanni Toosbuy Kasprzak to the Xiamen mayor, adding that Ecco had opened 800 stores in China with annual sales of two million pairs of shoes.

When talking about investment in Xiamen city, Hanni Toosbuy Kasprzak said Xiamen is one of most important partners for the company and they plan to strengthen its cooperation with the city of Xiamen by adding future unspecified investment.

The city mayor Liu appreciated Ecco’s intention of investment in Xiamen and has said they shall continue to create a favorable environment for further expansion in business along with the rising consumption in China.

Ecco Leather, part of the Ecco Group, owns and operates tanneries in China (Xiamen), the Netherlands, Indonesia, and Thailand. These tanneries offer leather production capabilities and scale to suit growing customer demand as well as seamless communication with Ecco’s shoe factories.
