Following a meeting on November 26, FICE’s Executive Committee has decided to integrate both roles of Executive President and Executive Secretary as one. Monzonís replaces José Sanchís, who assumed the presidency at the beginning of 2013 and was responsible for much of the internal organisational restructuring during a difficult economic context.
Monzonís joined FICE in July as Director General of Fice Services, and also assumed FICE’s General Secretary. Before leading the shoe sector, he had previously worked in public services and also has experience in the chemical, energy and water industrial sectors.
He represents a new chapter for the Federation, which is optimistic about the future of the county’s leather sector and hopes to expand the industry by benefitting from the current situation of the dollar and yuan currencies.
